Behind the scenes of STAPF

We believe in creating garments that stand the test of time, pieces you'll cherish and wear for years to come. This commitment to longevity extends beyond our fabrics to every seam, button, zipper, and detail.

Welcome to STAPF

making history since 1958

Heritage in Every Stitch

Since 1958, STAPF jackets have been crafted on Michael-Pacher-Strasse in Wörgl, where founder Richard Stapf began our story. To this day, we knit each yarn on circular and flat knitting machines, then naturally full the fabric using only water and energy, staying true to tradition, sustainability, and timeless quality.

A New Chapter

In 2017, STAPF faced the brink of closure. But what could have been the end became a new beginning. Driven by a deep appreciation for the brand’s craftsmanship, we, Kathrin and Sebastian, took on the mission of preserving the Wörgl factory and its legacy.

Since then, we’ve reimagined STAPF with care and conviction: investing in our product, refining silhouettes, and placing superfine wool and certified organic cotton at the heart of our sustainable production.

The result is a collection that honors tradition while embracing the future.

Naturally Responsible

Wool is inherently sustainable, and at Stapf, we elevate its purity through mindful sourcing and production. Our yarns come from trusted family-run mills in Austria and Tuscany, while our organic cotton is certified and sourced from Portugal.

We produce without chemical dyes or softeners, preserving the natural integrity of every fiber. And we're actively working with our partners to transition the majority of our wool to certified organic, because true quality respects both people and the planet.
